About Me

landscaping for the fun of kids

My name is Amelia - welcome to my blog! I am the mother of four very active boys ranging from 9 years to 3 years. When I am making improvements around my home and my property, I try to focus on how I can make those improvements while keeping things fun for the kids. This past year, I worked with a landscaper to create an outdoor environment that was fun for the kids, but looked nice from the road. I wanted the landscaper to design some elements into the yard that the kids could limb around on and let their imaginations run wild without having to worry about things getting destroyed in the process.

3 Amazing Services That Can Be Included In Your Lawn Care

While some lawn care companies only offer the basic services of mowing and weed-eating your lawn every week or so, there are others out there that can do so much more. These extra services can really benefit your lawn and keep it looking very healthy. Sometimes these services are part of the regular lawn care services, but other times they are add-ons that may cost you a bit more. Either way, these services are worth it if it means your lawn will be green and healthy. This article will discuss 3 of these amazing services that can be included in your lawn care.

Initial Lawn Assessment and Treatment Plan

When you first hire a great lawn care service, they will offer the option of doing a full assessment of your lawn to see what type of care it needs. This assessment will allow them to create a personalized plan for your lawn that will allow them to give it exactly what it needs. They will look and see if there are any dead spots that need special care, they will look for locations that have been overpowered anything other than grass, and they will check and see if your lawn has any diseases that need to be treated. They will discuss with you the treatment plan, how much it will cost, and how long it will take to get your lawn looking great.

Aerating Your Soil

Aerating your soil is a great way to help it breathe and it also creates more room for new, healthy grass to grow. Aeration can also help the roots of your grass to grow deeper and allows nutrients to get deep within the soil. Many lawn care services offer to do this to your lawn sometime during the growing season in spring or fall when the lawn can easily recover from it, and it is definitely a service that you should take full advantage off. The two types of aerating are spike and plug aeration. Spike irritating uses a spiked tool to create holes in the ground while plug aerating actually removes plugs of dirt from the ground.

Weed and Insect Control

It is no secret the weeds and insects can cause a great deal of damage to your yard, so if there is a problem, they need to be taken care of right away. A local lawn care service (such as 5 Star Lawnscaping) will be able to specifically look at and test your lawn to see what weeds are causing the most problem and/or what insects are eating your grass. Once they know exactly what weed or insect is causing the problem, they will then be able to specifically treat your lawn to get rid of them.
